Orbit Panic is played without an account, has no advertising and does not sell or hand over data to anyone. This page explains what is stored, where and why, both on the website and in the mobile app.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Xose de la Paz. For anything to do with your data, write to xose@novadream.com.
What follows describes everything Orbit Panic does with it. There is nothing else.
What stays on your device
There are no accounts and no sign-up. Your best score, your initials, the language, the sound and the fire mode are stored only in the local storage of the browser or the app, and are not sent to any server. They are erased when you clear the site data in your browser or the app data in your phone settings.
The high score table
When a game makes the high score table, the game asks for three initials and sends the server those three letters or digits, the score and the level reached; the server records the date. Nothing else: not your name, not your IP address, not any identifier of your device.
The table is public and shared between the website and the app: anyone who plays can see it. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in keeping a shared high score table (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). A set of initials rarely identifies anyone, and you can enter whatever you like; if you still want one of your scores removed, write to xose@novadream.com saying which one.
Usage measurement on the website (Google Analytics)
The orbit.pnyk.es website uses Google Analytics 4, a service of Google Ireland Limited, to find out how many people play, where they come from and in which language. Google receives technical data about your browser and your visit —pages viewed, IP address, device type and language— and sets the cookies listed below to tell one visit from the next.
Google may transfer that data to the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The details are in Google's privacy policy, at policies.google.com/privacy. You can prevent the measurement by blocking third-party cookies or with a blocker in your browser: the game works exactly the same.
The mobile app
The Orbit Panic app is the same game as the website, packaged. It carries no Google Analytics or any other measurement, shows no advertising, has no purchases and asks for no permission other than internet access, which it uses only for the high score table. It works fully offline.
Cookies and local storage
Orbit Panic does not use any cookies of its own. This is what it keeps on your device:
| Name | Whose | What for | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
orbitpanic_best | Orbit Panic (local storage) | Your best score and the level you reached | Until you delete it |
orbitpanic_scores | Orbit Panic (local storage) | A copy of the high score table, to see it offline | Until you delete it |
orbitpanic_initials | Orbit Panic (local storage) | The last initials you entered | Until you delete it |
orbitpanic_lang, orbitpanic_muted, orbitpanic_autofire | Orbit Panic (local storage) | Your settings: language, sound and fire mode | Until you delete it |
_ga | Google Analytics (cookie, website only) | Telling one visitor from another | Two years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics (cookie, website only) | Keeping the measurement session | Two years |
On the website, the browser also keeps a copy of the game so that it works offline. It contains no personal data.
The server
Like any web server, the one hosting orbit.pnyk.es keeps a technical access log —IP address, requested address and date— for a limited time, for its security and proper operation. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in protecting the service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
How long it is kept
Scores in the high score table are kept for as long as the game exists, unless you ask for yours to be removed. What is on your device, until you delete it. The Google Analytics cookies expire after two years.
Your rights
You can access your data, correct it, ask for it to be erased, restrict or object to its processing and take it with you by writing to xose@novadream.com.
If you believe your request has not been properly handled, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).
Children
Orbit Panic does not ask for age or any data that would reveal it, and the only thing that leaves the device is three initials and a score.
Where it is stored
The high score table is stored on the server hosting orbit.pnyk.es, at a hosting provider in Spain. The measurement data, on Google's servers.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change. This page is always the current version.
